Things are continuing to be busy. Ross is in the field so he tries to come in a little before 6:00 to help feed the boys and then goes outside until about 9 or 10. Isaac seems to be doing well other than some sinus drainage and teething. His corner teeth are trying to come in but it's taking FOREVER!!!! We're continuing to work with Isaac on his speech. Right now the words he can say clearly are: Mama, Dada, Grandma, uh-oh, more, outside, bye-bye and truck. We've heard cookie and thank you once or twice but it's not in his everyday vocabulary yet. We're really working on cup since that's an easy one. Little Caleb may have to help Isaac out as he's hearing all these words and starting to talk.

Caleb goes back for a check up after his tube surgery. He is a totally different baby. He's so happy and trying his hardest to crawl. He pulled himself up to the coffee table last week and to the side of the tub once this week. He's getting there.

Here are a few random pictures I've taken.

Caleb's 1st word

Caleb is saying a few words now but the 1st word that is pretty clear is being said quite often so I got it on video. It's pretty cute. I think he's heard me saying it over and over to Isaac and so he picked it up.

Here's my cutie!!!!

Our brave boy

Caleb had his ear tube surgery this morning in Sioux Falls at the surgical tower. We had to be there at 6:30 am so it was an early morning for all of us. Caleb was not allowed anything to eat after midnight and could have 2 oz. of clear fluids prior to 5:30. I picked up out of his crib at 11:00 and stuck the bottle in his mouth. He drank 5 oz. without even waking up. I decided not to give him the clear liquids because I know after 2 oz. he would want more. He did surprisingly well. About 7:15 he was getting pretty tired and hungry. The nurses took him to the surgical room at about 8:00 and at about 8:30 he was back in the room with us. He was quite groggy and was having trouble waking up and was fussy. We fed him some apple juice and a little bit of formula and then I got him to sleep and he slept on my lap for about 45 minutes or so.

The Dr. told us that the surgery went well. He did see that he has ruptured his right eardrum twice and it is starting to heal. There is also infection remaining in his ears. He cleaned and drained everything he could get so that should relieve most of the pressure. He put Caleb on a 10 day dose of augmentin and a 5 day dose of ear drops. We go back for a check up on May 1st.

Caleb seems to be back to normal now but he has reverted backwards a bit and will not eat hardly any baby food. Luckily he's taking the bottle now so I don't plan on forcing him to eat if he doesn't want it.

Here are some pictures from the day...can't go anywhere without the camera you know!

Heading to Sioux Falls...too happy for 5:30 am.

Isaac's first "dying egg" experience

The week before Easter the boys and I went over to Grandma and Grandpa K's house for dinner and egg dying. Cousin Caden and Aunt Gina were there. Caleb was taking a nap so he missed out, Isaac should have been taking a nap but he had the opportunity to see what we were doing. All he wanted to do was throw the egg. He even threw the egg into the dye. Isaac finished with a nice cracked egg. It was funny though that's for sure!!! Here's my boy!

Easter photos/Caleb update

Caleb had his 9 month check up last week. He is 20 lbs 10 oz. and is 28 1/2 inches long. I compared Isaac's stats and at 9 months he was 18 lbs 10 oz. and 29 inches long. I'm thinking the nurse measured Isaac incorrectly because Caleb seems longer then Isaac. I suppose it could be accurate though as Isaac has a long torso and Caleb has long legs.
Caleb has had a rough couple weeks with his ears. At his 9 month check up, Dr. Springer checked his ears and sure enough his right ear is again infected. He sent us home with a 5 day dose of zithromax in hopes that it would knock it out. Easter was really hard on Caleb with a 103 fever and fussy as ever. I took Caleb back in on Monday and he now has a double ear infection. Dr. Springer set up another appointment for us in Sioux Falls with the ENT and we got in with him yesterday afternoon. Caleb does have quite a bit of fluid in both ears and he is now scheduled for surgery on Friday morning. He will be getting tubes and the fluid will be drained. We hope and pray this is the answer to all his ear trouble.
We spent Easter with my parents and had a nice relaxing day. We had a nice meal and even had homemade icecream and brownies for dessert. It was a good time.
I had taken some pictures a few weeks before Easter of the boys. It's getting harder to tell which one is the youngest. Caleb is catching Isaac at a face pace.

I can't believe my youngest is almost 9 months and my oldest is almost 18 months. Wow. What a busy time it's been for us. The boys have managed to stay healthy the last couple weeks. Caleb still has his ear infection as far as we know. He did have an appointment with an Ear Nose Throat Specialist and it appears the fluid is lessening and he should be back to himself soon. We will keep an eye on him to make sure they don't reoccur in the fall.

I took the boys to Walmart for their pictures but Mr. Isaac was not in the mood to cooperate. He was quite scared and clung to me for dear life. Poor baby. I did not make him but we did try to encourage him after he saw Caleb sitting on the table, but he would not budge. So we did get some good pictures of Caleb. Now I have to attempt to get some good ones of Isaac. They had matching argyle sweaters from Aunt Erin and everything. I tried to do a photo shoot at home tonight but Isaac would not sit still and Caleb was too tired, at least we have plenty of time to keep trying. For now here's my 9 month photo shoot of Caleb and a couple of Isaac.

I hope spring is almost here!

It's been a very LONG winter for our household. This Mom is tired!!! From sinus infections, croup, bronchitis, 3 ear infections in one child, 1 ear infection in another, I think we're about due for a break.

Last weekend the boys and I made the trip over to my parents for the day and we were able to see Aunt Michelle, cousins Daryan, Kim, Emily, Norah and Bjorn. It was good to see them. It had been just about 3 months since we had seen Daryan and 2 months since seeing Norah and Bjorn.

Bjorn is about 5 1/2 weeks younger than Caleb. It's so much fun to see how they compare in size. Caleb is heavier but I think they're about the same in length right now. Caleb will go back for his 9 month check up in a few weeks.

Today the weather was great, got up to 60 or so. We took the boys for a wagon ride outside and they loved in. In fact, Isaac did not want to come back in. I can't wait until it's nice enough to take them outside every night after work. I think Isaac is entering the early stages of the "Terrible Two's" so some nights are very trying with 2 little ones that want Mommy all to themselves and are hungry and tired not to mention Mommy tired from a full day of work and Daddy still outside working!!!!!!!! God is humorous though isn't He?
